Country: Burkina Faso
Project name: QT10-15 brick production line Burkina Faso
Block type: Hollow block \ interlock block etc
Introduction: How Sahel Bétons SARL (Ouagadougou) deployed one Dongyue QT10-15 fully automatic block making line to scale hollow block output by 125% and launch in-house colored paver production — replacing costly imports.

Challenge

Market context: a construction boom outpacing local supply Burkina Faso's urban population is growing at roughly 4–5% per year, and government infrastructure programs — rural roads, schools, health centers, and affordable housing — are driving steady demand for concrete masonry. In Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso, contractors increasingly specify hollow blocks for wall systems and colored paving stones for public squares, hotels, and commercial compounds. Yet local supply remained fragmented. Most producers ran small semi-automatic or manual lines, and high-spec colored pavers were almost entirely imported from Côte d'Ivoire or Asia — expensive, slow to deliver, and inconsistent in shade. Four core pain points before the upgrade Capacity gap. Our old semi-automatic line capped hollow block output at ~6,000 pcs per 8-hour shift — far below tender demand. We routinely turned down government and contractor orders. Import dependence for pavers. Colored paving stones were 100% imported. Lead times of 6–10 weeks and volatile freight squeezed margins and blocked time-sensitive projects. High and unstable energy cost. Burkina Faso's grid (SONABEL) carries among the higher tariffs in West Africa, and supply interruptions forced costly downtime on energy-inefficient legacy equipment. Quality inconsistency. Manual feeding produced hollow blocks with variable density and dimensional drift; imported pavers often showed color batch mismatch. We could not reliably meet structural or aesthetic specifications for large projects. The urgency was clear: without automated, energy-efficient, and quality-consistent production, we would keep losing tenders to better-equipped regional competitors.

Solution

The Solution: Dongyue QT10-15 Fully Automatic Block Making Line After evaluating several suppliers, we selected Dongyue's QT10-15 — a heavy-duty, fully automatic molding machine sized for medium-to-large plants, configured with an optional face-mix (color) feeding device so a single line could produce both structural hollow blocks and surface-colored paving stones. Key technical specifications (as supplied) Molding Cycle: 15–20 s Vibration System: Table-mold sync. Vibration Freq:2,800–4,500 /min Installed Power:45.38 kW Molding Pressure:up to 100 t Machine Weight:13 T Pallet Size:1300×900×30 mm Control:PLC + HMI How the QT10-15 resolved each pain point Capacity → solved by high-throughput molding. At 10 hollow blocks per mold and a 15–20 s cycle, the line delivers ~2,100 pcs/h of 390×190×190 hollow block — roughly 3.5× our previous throughput, eliminating the order ceiling. Paver imports → replaced by in-house production. The face-mix device lays a thin colored top layer over a structural base, producing uniform, fade-resistant colored pavers on the same line — no more imports. Energy → managed by proportional hydraulics & PLC. Sensor-based hydraulic proportional drive and intelligent PLC control optimize power draw per cycle; stable, consistent operation also reduces grid-interruption loss versus our legacy equipment. Quality → locked by 100-ton pressure & synchronous vibration. Table-mold synchronous vibration plus up to 100-ton pressure head ensures high density, strength, and dimensional precision; mold-box/pressure-head synchronous drive minimizes height variation across the pallet.

Client Feedback

"Dongyue's QT10-15 is robust, genuinely automatic, and the face-mix option let us enter the colored paver market without a second line. Their French-speaking engineer had us running within days, and spare parts support has been reliable. For a West African producer, the price-to-performance ratio is simply the best we evaluated."
