Before the upgrade, the company faced four constraints that capped its growth:
Inconsistent supply. Hollow blocks, standard bricks and pavers were sourced partly from traditional manual yards and partly from imports; quality and lead times varied with each channel.
No controlled local capacity. Without its own line, the firm could not reliably meet the dimensional and strength specs demanded by larger housing and municipal projects.
Volume ceiling. Manual block-making capped daily output; the firm was turning away orders during peak building season and could not bid on larger urban-works packages.
Limited product range. Colored pavers — increasingly specified for public squares, markets and institutional grounds — had to be imported or resold, eroding margin and lead-time control.
The operator needed a fully-automatic line that could make multiple brick types on one machine, hold tight tolerances at higher throughput, and scale output to capture rising domestic and UEMOA-region demand.
After a supplier review in 2022, the producer selected the QT8-15 — Dongyue's fully-automatic block machine built on table-mold synchronous vibration with PLC and HMI control. The QT8-15 produces hollow blocks, standard bricks, porous bricks and pavers on one line by changing molds, and its optional face-mix device enables colored paver production. Dongyue handled pre-shipment FAT, on-site installation and commissioning in August 2022, operator training, and a spare-parts kit to keep the line running with minimal overseas dependency.
"Before the QT8-15, we were buying from small yards and importers, and our own output was never steady. Now we make our own hollow blocks, standard bricks and colored pavers here in Guinea-Bissau on one fully-automatic machine. The blocks are consistent, our clients trust the dimensions, and the colored pavers opened urban and municipal orders we could never serve before. The line paid for itself faster than we expected, and we finally take the housing and public-works contracts we used to turn away."
